Best Robot Vacuums and Mop Combos
The best way to keep your home clean is to use a robotic vacuum. It will remove dust, pet hair, and other particles from the floor before it causes a bigger problem.
Some robots are able to sync with smart assistants like Alexa and Google Assistant for a hands-free experience. Look for models that can recharge and resume cleaning where they left off.
1. iRobot S8
This smart robot mop and vacuum combo is a fantastic choice for many households. It features a superb navigation system that includes GPS and laser sensors. It also comes with numerous features and control options that can be accessed through the app. It also comes with a helpful feature that lets you add cleaning zones to certain areas that require more attention and Keep Out zones that you don't want it to go. And, like all Roomba devices, it gets new software updates that make it even more efficient over time.
It's expensive, but it's also one of the most advanced robot vacuums ZDNet has ever tested. It has a high-powered battery that can sweep a large home in under two hours, and it can switch between mopping and vacuuming at the touch of one button. It automatically emptys the trash bin that is above its charging station, in contrast to other self-emptying robots that require you to empty it after each run.
It also has a number of other features, such as intelligent obstacle avoidance which uses a camera along with processor-powered smarts to detect obstacles. It's rarely tripped up or stuck during a cleaning process. In my tests it was the best at avoiding objects such as power cables. However, it isn't as reliable at detecting pet waste and other hazards.
2. Eufy RoboVac Hybrid X8
While Anker-owned Eufy has made a name for itself in budget robot vacuums, it's not yet an all-in-one model which can also mop. That's changed with the X8 Hybrid, which has an impressive array of modern features that can compete against more expensive models.
The laser navigation system is the primary selling point of this machine. The X8 makes use of the laser mapping system, which is more accurate than the previous Eufy devices. It takes less time to create an accurate map of your home and can store multiple maps. This is perfect for homes with multiple floors.
The X8 is still a good vacuum on bare floors and can sling debris over its side brushes and into its 400ml dust bin with relative ease. The X8's tyres, despite having a circular shape, are good at grabbing edges and corners. Our tests showed that it could only remove 90 percent of the fur from hard floors.
There's a basic mopping option that uses the same water tank as the vacuuming. This is ideal for spills that aren't too dangerous, but you are unable to control the amount of water it uses. It does, however, do an admirable job of removing pet hair, with a higher speed of pickup than the Roborock S7.
3. Miele RX2
Miele's RX2 robotic vacuum is known for its quiet, efficient appliances. It features a stunning design, superb navigation and an impressive cleaning power. But it has some operational issues that prevent it from being ranked as the top overall smart robot vacuum.
The RX2 is equipped with a dual-sensor mapping technology which uses LIDAR to map the space and a pair of 3D scanning cameras to detect and avoiding obstacles (such as furniture legs or pet waste). Once mapped the app allows you to create virtual no-go zones as well as areas that you want to clean. will automatically clean. You can also change the cleaning modes, initiate cleaning manually or watch a live feed of the cameras onboard from the main screen.
robot vacuum that vacuums and mops RX2's sensors work well by registering furniture and obstructions in real-time. Its sweeping and suction powers are exceptional, taking away surface debris from carpets of medium pile as well as embedded dust on floors. However, it's not the most agile robot on the market. It's not the greatest climber and has issues with transition strips made of metal.
Some people buy robot vacuums because of the ease of setting up a schedule in an app, only to forget about them for weeks. But it's important that a robot can do the job, which is the reason our ZDNet staff examined and reviewed a few of the most popular ones to help you select the perfect one for your home.
4. Shark ION
This round, budget robot looks like a typical robot, but it's an upgrade in performance and features. Its intelligent mapping system creates 3D and 2-D maps of your house and uses them to navigate and avoid obstructions. It's also able to detect common obstacles such as furniture legs and power cords in real time. The combination of sensors with a bump detector and an infrared sensor that keeps the vacuum away from steps makes it one our most agile vacuums.
It was able to walk over the thick shag carpets and didn't get stuck (unlike the RoboVac 11s, or Roomba 690-). Its navigational skills were impressive as well and its overall score on carpet and bare floors beat out the competition. It picked up 98.5 percent of surface litter and embedded pet hair from our laboratory test samples.
The controls are simpler than those of the competition's. There's a cleaning button at the top, and you can choose to start it using the app or voice commands using Alexa or Google Assistant. You can also schedule weekly or daily cleanings, set up no-go zones, and look up its cleaning history. Ion is covered in a smart dark gray plastic that looks and feels beautiful in your home. Its rear dust bin is easy to empty and cleaning the filter is just as simple.
5. Eufy 11S
Eufy 11S is a good choice if you want a vacuum cleaner that is easy to use and simple at a cost that is low. It lacks some of the advanced features, like digital mapping and Alexa integration, found in more expensive models, but if you're not looking for these features, you can save a little money by purchasing this model.
This robot is easy to set up and use. It does not require smartphone application or Wi-Fi pairing. However it does come with an remote control that allows you to choose between various modes and adjust the suction level. You can also set up a manual schedule to set the robotvac to an cleaning schedule.
In our tests, the 11S was extremely efficient in removing dirt and pet hair from hard floors and low-pile carpets. Its slim profile allowed it to get under furniture and other low items that more bulkier robots were unable to reach. It could also easily pass over doorway thresholds and transition between floors and another.
The 11S, like other robots will also suckup some objects, such as cords and cat toys. The manufacturer suggests that you keep these objects off the ground and by using a cord organizer if possible. It also recommends that you regularly clean the dustbin, replace the filters and wash or change the brushes as required.
6. iRobot Roomba 980
The Roomba 980 is the flagship robot vacuum. It's costly, but it's the best robot vacuum you can purchase. Its self-navigation and environmental mapping are a joy to behold. It has more advanced automation than most of its competitors, such as the ability to create virtual boundary markers through its mobile application. It's a capable robot vacuum, even if the app isn't the most responsive and the 980 spins when it is pushed over cables.
We really like the 980 due to its iAdapt2.0 navigation sensors and its visual simultaneity localisation and mapping (or vSLAM), to memorise your home's floor plan. It then uses the information to create an efficient and consistent cleaning path for every cycle. The result is cleaner floors and a better robot vacuum cleaner than the majority of high-end robots.
Other features of the 980 include dual multi-surface brushes which grab dirt from hard floors and carpets, as well as a spinning brush to sweep debris into the robotic vacuum’s bin. The sensor for floor tracking helps it navigate around furniture, along edges and up steps. Cliff Detect prevents the Roomba from falling. It will automatically return to its base station to ensure hassle-free recharges between sessions. The bin capacity and the battery life of the 980 aren't as impressive as other robot vacuums. However, it's an extremely reliable and sturdy machine that will keep floors clean for a long time. hours.
